Default public service from admin about laserman532 (pat)

i for one dont have any problem with people putting up links to there websites selling there gear.
and pat you are not spamming the forum.
i think its a great thing then we all know what each others selling,
pats put alot of help into helping folks out on here, and is selling some awesome kit to ease building
your own multi diode setups (just wish i had the money to buy some lol)
we are all one big happy family here so buying and selling amongst are selfs is cool
and we dont have to pay big bucks for are build equipment to some big company.
the only time i dont like it is when somone new joins the forum, trying to sell stuff without even so much as a hello
i say keep up the good work pat and dont remove your link
i like to look at your site and dribble over all the bit i can not afford

thanks for my little message and video this morning "warlords" it did make me smile

ive still not hit the "x" yet.

i have no problem with ANYONE advertising to sell stuff on PL.

What i have a problem with is when someone like Pat who is full of knowledge, rather than helping someone tries to sell something instead. Why? I don’t understand it?

Someone wanted to play and try something hes not done before and rather than posting a helpful answer pat tried to sell him something. For some unknown reason this really wound me the fuck up!

So sorry to Pat for the other day, but instead of trying to make money from people off PL offer some of your knowledge and experience for free to us all

    Hugs and kisses Andy
(sorry if this post comes across as kinda jokey, its meant to be a serious post)

Did you ever consider that maybe Pat helps PL-members BY selling stuff? If you don't know what I mean, find something that Pat makes, and sells on his site - then go find the equivalent part at newport.com or thorlabs.com - or - edmundoptics.com - you should fairly-quickly see how Pat is 'helping' us. I, for one, am glad he does.

Not to mention that he HAS shared LOTS of good - and helpful - info on ions, dye lasers, KTPs-galore, power supplies / electronics and has posted some of the most classic / hilarous YuckTube clips posted-to PL.. not to mention, he has the hands-down COOLEST 'laser-cameo / auto-biographical shot' of ALL TIME (imho...

...So, what gives, dude?? Maybe you need to go-back and review his posts, and remind-yourself of his genuine helpfulness around here?

i think your missing my point. im not saying hes not helpful, im saying in that one thread he wasnt being help. i dont need to research pats post i know how knowledgeable he is, this is why i was baffled as to why he wasnt helping.

also where did the price of his or any other sites goods come into it? the thread in question was someone asking for help to build a multi diode setup, not to buy one. if he wanted to buy one, im sure he would have contacted pat.

Ah, well, yes, I did not see the post in-question, and sure - we can all be a bit 'off' sometimes, eh? For instance, I've been quite the jackass, lately... but I have my reasons...

The point I was making is that is one way that Pat helps - he makes very high-qual stuff (and quite-dedicatedly 'caters' to this forum) at quite reasonable prices - one might see this as 'opportunism', but I see it the opposite-way - I'm GLAD I am not 'forced' to go to over-priced supply-houses like Thor or Edmunds for a bloody MM-1, ya know? And he makes some stuff that just ain't available elsewhere... maybe that person in-question was not aware of something he could get 'off the shelf' that would allow him more hours to tune / play vs machine, maybe? I dunno - I didn't see the thread, so I guess I'll shut-up, now...

Well, anyhoo, sorry if I came across 'Rambo-style'...
    cheers...

PS - nice job on your final-build, a million-years-ago, there.. ..nice, sturdy box-design...

    Andy,

Not trying to be an ass here but by your standards you spammed your group buy thread: http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/showthread.php/9660-UK-Group-Buy-open-can-660nm-and-405nm-diodes?p=133543#post133543 I don't have a problem with it, but you do seem to have a chip on your shoulder, Chill Out, can't we all just get along!

If you want to make your own stuff that is groovy, take lots of pictures!. The products sold are supporting many PL members; you may note Chad makes the flexture mounts, Dr Lava makes the flexmod, laserwave makes the PBS cube, and Pat puts them in one box, cut to size and anodized (how is that for a run-on sentence).

Now for some laser pr0n.... Combiner Pictures Stolen from swamidog!

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

    again way off track.......

my thread was a group buy selling something, not someone asking for help and me trying to sell them something. so completely different!

I have to agree with Jon on this one, Pat has been really helpful, both in his products and his information. He can be a little annoying at times, but it is all in good spirit

ok this thread can stop, I dont want to be defended or hailed. I just want to make my junk and if someone buys it great, if not, i have some cool stuff on my desk.

Here is the facts, it is winter here, i dont get out much and sometimes get stir crazy and do not perform professionally. But hey thats me. In the future I will make every attempt to say something nice or nothing at all. My post have been curt and not so professional and that is the lesson I have learned out of this experience!

What spec did I thought was VERY FUNNY, because it is something I would do, its over we are done, point has been made.

NOW GET BACK TO WORK MAKING COOL LAZER GIZMOS! I dont want this to turn into a drama thread...we can start one with Laser_Ben for that (you see...that was a joke )

EDIT- Sorry I had to edit...my actions in the future totally exempt the "Laserscope modification is completed" thread.
