The m^2 calculation uses the divergence half-angle, so where it says .4mrad, the full divergence is actually .8mrad. Still damn good though.

look nice, too rich for my blood though...

you know, I cant really figure out who KVANT is marketing to... most of the people that can afford a lot of money on lasers are commercial installations like night clubs and such, and these are by far some of the cheapest people on earth... no matter how much you tell them a KVANT is 1000000000x better than say, a LaserWorld... they are probably going to go for the cheaper option, even if it hurts them in the long run...

most hobbiests dont have tons of disposable income to drop into a projector, so the idea of paying more for the same amount of power for something that, lets face it, is probably not THAT much better than a CNI/LaserWave in most of the applications these lasers are getting used in...

so who are they selling to? professional laser companies? there cant be that many in the world that you could be pumping these things out by the pallet...

additionally my green and blue laserwaves have razer thin beams compared to a lot of the other chinese lasers I have seen... so while I am sure their m^2 is a fantasy number they do look really really nice and are a lot cheaper than a KVANT, i just cant bring myself to justify the cost difference quite frankly, and I seriously considered going with KVANT vs LaserWave

You are right. I am more or less just informing but even here, between all those hobbiests are people who build their stuff for professional use and hire and want it to .... I am not going to continue as I don't want to trigger another wave of madness
But there are customers evetywhere and it's nice to have a choice. There is guy who is building stunning machines (size, weight and build quality) here in the UK and he uses greens from Laser Quantum (I think that's their name) and R+B from us.

If than think about companies like Coherent or Tarm - well, their stuff is LOT more expensive than Kvant and they still sell and exist so..

True is that we sell mostly high power systems.

I've very happy with CNI. I see no reason pay 2-3 times more for a same thing. If in result I will have same power same specs (KVANT doesn't give any over spec) and same lifetime.
I hired an Italian guy to do my wires. Now they look like spaghetti!

Exactly. You are happy with CNI you have and I am not happy with CNI I have. That's all.

ya but I am sure 90% of the stuff they ship out doesn't end up being used for entertainment purposes

I am happy to hear that you guys are moving them, competition is good, and knowing that someone, somewhere, that can afford and appreciate quality and is doing so is a bit reassuring lol

Here it is. This is on 30 metres distance and I was told that better optics will be used on Tuesday which should slightly improve the leaking emissions around the edges.

Given the distance, that's not bad at all. If that's an m^2 of 3 (and I'm sure it is) then some of these other suppliers are full of shit when they say their high-powered systems have an m^2 of less than 1.2. Assuming I'm correct in estimating the spot to be about 2cm across @30m, the only Chinese lasers I own that have a divergence that low are my CNI 473nm and a 50mW "Aixiz" 532nm. I wish that beam profiles were more commonly supplied when lasers are being sold. It's such an important measurement of the quality of a laser. A clean beam is worth paying extra money for many people..

The only thing I can't tell from that pic is if the power distribution is gaussian. The irradiance is so high throughout the spot that it's just solid white. If it's true TEM00, that laser is worth the extra cash IMO. I'd be interested to see if the 600mW unit is just as clean..

All I need now is for it to be single longitudinal mode
