Mobile DJ Laser Positioning?

Quick question on this...

What is the best way to position a laser for a mobile DJ setup? I heard that head height is the place to be but I am slightly concerned about someone on the dance floor taking a hit in the eyes with 50mW.

Ok, so 50mW isn't the most powerful by far but the venue I am setting up at holds up to 150 guests.

The only other option is to point it downwards or point it upwards which may spoil the aerial effects I am going for.

Am I right in thinking that's 3 meters vertical separation from the top of a persons head or is that 3 meters from the ground?

read it again carefully (hint-above any point at which a person could stand...are they allowed to stand on tables, if so how tall are the tables...get it?)
