Default New project, HeNe psu from scratch

I recently bought myself a Spectra physics 105-2 HeNe laser off ebay without a psu cuz im too cheap to buy a psu.

Solution ? Build a psu! I started off scrapping an old oscilloscope i had laying around that was broken, all a really needed out of it was the little high voltage transformer, apart from that i just needed a few HV diodes, a few HV capacitors and two resistors as well as a transistor.

Heres a little video of my prototype so far: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVLF8kcIkMQ

I canīt test out the ballast resistor until the laser arrives, so stay tuned for updates.

    Very nice!

Are you planning to release the schematic/pcb artwork?

I had a look at the video, and it sounds like a bog standard 555-based flyback driver. Just Google it and you should get a ton of schematics for it.

The schematic is on Sams and Steves laser faq.

Iīve been looking for a female alden connector but with no luck. I intend to put this psu in a box, maybe even add a key interlock when the funds permit.
