    Default Weight bags for tripods?

So I've decided that until my housing / transportation / "needs" can support the cost & size of "pro" lighting lifts, I'll probably continue to use heavy-duty speaker tripods (Ultimate Support brand) for my projector stands.

This shouldn't be huge concern since I don't foresee giving any shows other than small gigs for family & friends any time soon; plus, my audio system really isn't enough to cause eardrums to bleed or rattle projectors too bad...

All the same, I would like to add a bit of stabilization to the tripds, and was wondering if anyone had any experience and/or recommendations for weight bags to use for this purpose?

    Thanks in advance!

    Randy,

I have used these http://www.filmtools.com/5lbredsali.html for tripods however they did not have a projector mounted to them. They do add quite a bit of stability, in fact the tripods I used them on were very flimsy without the bags.

How did you fill the inner tube with sand? Did you cut them open and then re-glue them? And how do you get it to fit over the tripod? (Wouldn't it be too heavy and unwieldy to lift?)

why not use lighting tripods? then you can attach your projector with clamps and you can attach a safety cable...

truck (they could have been car or motorcycle, depends on what size seal you want) tire cut in fourths, heavy duty ti wraps, filled with sand = clubbed baby harp seals
