    Talking argons

    Ok this is the newest member to my argons!!
    I made the run out box this afternoon, complete with interlock key on the side
    the first head is a 2214-40MLA giveing me 6 lines. Dont really know the powerout put, but at 10amps. its bright!!!!!!
    The next one is the odd ball one.... It too is a 2214 but its a 2214-GLYVW I have no idea what its doing... Look at the pics. I do know it starts the first click, and starts and runs at 3.91amps. the lowest my PSU will go, also runs at 10amps. Just dont know what its doing....or what it is....
    Oh pic.11 is my fav. its blinding my cam.!!!!!!

    Nice!

    Maybe Steve can interject here, but I never liked running my air-cooled Ar's at more than 9.5 amps. It seems like anything over that will shorten the life of the tube. Not sure by how much, if any at all, but...

    Nice looking unit though!

    Yeah Im hopeing he can shine some light on this one...
    This is very true. I just run it at the power for just a short time, most of the time its around 8,but it helps to have a huge 300cfm fan on it too

    isn't it an UV version of this argon tube? I think the UV line has more gain than any other one, that may give a clue on why it runs at low currents

    Hahaha!! Well I can say my track record is finlly changing for the good!! For the longest time I would find 'good deals' on laser ans get them home and they would be upto air So maybe Im out of that now!!

    I have no clue I tryed to find info on it with no luck... And to add more confusion here if I run it at more than 5 amps a red will apear...very fant but its there.

    Is it actually lasing?

    If your sure it is, lase some printer paper with it to see if it fluoresces, if it does then it's probably lasing UV. The red you are seeing will be from the Argon red lines (Which don't lase in any system I've ever seen).

    20GL should be 20mW of 514nm. In this case this may be well misaligned, so no lasing, just bore light.

    Matt, i already have an argon but its only single line 488, i really want a multiline, but im moving to an apartment sometime this spring so i cannot put any money on hobbies for years to come, except trades. Whats real sad is that i have to sell everything i own to finace the move.
