Don't know if anyone watched "Museum of Life" on BBC or BBC HD tonight but at 29 minutes in, they were using a pulsed laser to clean the teeth of a dinosaur!

I hear that one of the advantages of using short-wavelength excimers is that they are preferentially absorbed by decayed tooth material, so they ablate those tissues without harming the good stuff too much.
