    Default A question...

Anybody know why the animated XP search puppy turns the book pages backwards? Is he Muslim or Hebrew? Ok, I know those faiths read right to left, but do the books start at the back????

Steve, the way they turn the pages has nothing to do with the religion. It has to do with the language. They have books oriented the same way in Japan, and a few other Asian countries.

I bet they analogized the fact that when you are quick-searching a book, you rapidly browse pages with your thumb in a reverse manner by bending the side of the book and letting pages flow quickly, then you open it when something hits your eye...

could be wrong, but that's the closest possibility I see which stays ethnically compatible

It has everything to do with it, Pat.

Steve raised the question, "Is he Muslim or Hebrew" in his initial post:

So Ben answered that it wasn't the religion but the language that made the difference:

I see his answer as being both topical and completely appropriate (not to mention 100% correct).

As to the larger issue of why the graphic works that way, I have no idea.
