Having issues with gibberish output from Galvos

When I go to my start menu, it has a folder called "USB Multi-Channel Audio Device", and it has application that Uninstalls the driver. Then I would re-boot and run the driver setup again.

I just tried what you said, going into device manager and updating the driver to the one posted in the tutorial, and it said that driver was already installed. I still only have the two bars in the Mixer tab.


Should I not even try using Windows 7 32-bit? For some reason, my XP disc won't install on my laptop. It keeps saying that there are no HDs detected. I'll try to get my hands on another disk that I can use my serial with.

Newer laptops use a different HDD setting that XP doesn't recognize. You need to go into your BIOS and set the drive to "SATA" operation instead of AHCI.. What is the laptop manufacturer?

Hmm. Honestly, I still run XP because of windows 7's (and Vista's) driver compatibility issues, and in doing so avoid headaches like these. Someone else who has it working in Windows 7 might be able to tell you how they accomplished the windows 7 feat.

I'll give that a shot and try the install again. I've got a Dell XPS M1330

Things was the one who told me he had no issues getting setup in Win 7 32-bit. But I have a hard time getting in touch with him because of the time difference.

I read part of your thread that said you got it working with Windows Vista using a driver that is different from the one on the CD and different from dr. lava's. Can you give me a link to that driver?

Yeah, I have seen your PM windows on IRC but never get back in time to reply.

Yes, I have had it working in Windows 7 32bit before, however the setup was pretty straight forward regarding the soundcard drivers. I'm curious as to why your control panel is missing the other settings like mic etc.

The outputs from the galvo's kinda point to a hardware issue, just what is a problem. Do you know anyone with an oscope that you could borrow? Or you could try one of those little portable oscopes for I think $89.

I was leaning towards something like a ground loop, but the fact your driver doesn't have all the options is weird. I think I remember you saying the card is L shaped? Can you read the markings on the internal chip? It should be CM ... something IIRC.

well that's the one I've been using. I'm trying to get XP installed, but I'm running into some slight trouble. I'm doing some searching online to try to fix the XP situation.

You'll usually only see threads about the sound card DAC now from people with trouble. Those for whom it works fine have no need to post. The same goes for any DAC.

However the sound card DAC is intended mainly for those who love to diy and tinker so if you're not one of them (speaking to others reading this), please stay away and get a Riya or FB3
