    Cool

If we do this in the conference room at the Holiday Inn Express, there probably won't be a copier present. I'm sure we could arrange to have an all-in-one ink-jet printer/scanner/copier present though. I agree it would be good to have one there.

Looks like there is enough interest in this idea to make it happen. With regard to handling Casey's expenses, I propose the following compromise:

People who can't attend in person but who wish to view the presentation on-line pay 1/2 the cost of those who attend in person.

Does that seem fair to everyone? (Again, I anticipate Casey's expenses will be in the neighborhood of $1000.)

I wouldn't mind tuning into the session as well

I might be able to "scam" you guys a Webex session to use

For those that don't know what Webex is, it's a an online web conferencing product that Cisco has, beauty of it is that you can connect to it via the web to share documents, chat, audio and video (if you have the bandwidth) or for the audio you can ring a local POP from your phone for the cost of a local call

The conferences are also password controlled so you can restrict the conference to those that have paid

You can also record the session and send it out afterwords as well

PS. as for the photocopier, I think a scanner would be better (save the planet and all that, also makes it easier to send copies to those not present)

I'd have to check with Casey to be sure he's cool with us selling a copy of his training session, but it's not a bad idea in principle.

    Troy;

Your idea of using a webex session is interesting. The only problem might be bandwidth. We'll probably be on the house wireless at the hotel, which is likely to be variable. Ustream might be preferable simply because it downshifts rather well when bandwidth dries up.

Adam I have not replied as I am not sure about my schedule. Painting the house has all my attention... and is making me very negative about future vacation time... I had hoped to take Thrusday off and try to get there late Thursday night. Taking Monday... Tuesday off in addition, as I already plan on leaving on Monday, may be out of the question. My opinion may not matter.

As for bandwidth, I have a 4G aircard now and Charlotte is "wired" for 4G... I still need to check the sites in Newton to see if it has been rolled out that far.

Really sorry to hear that, Aaron.

The only other option would be to try to push Casey's seminar back to Thursday, before SELEM. (We can't do it on Friday because after 12 noon we'll be busy loading in and setting up.) But if we do it on Thursday, that means you have to take Wednesday off to drive up...

So either way, it adds exactly one day to the event, either on the front end or on the back end. And my thinking was that if we do it on the back end (that is, on Monday), we'll have less competition with SELEM itself. But I'm open to suggestions from the group. If people would rather see us do this on Thursday, I'm sure we can swing it.

    What sayeth the group?

As for the 4G rollout, remember that Newton is almost an hour outside of Charlotte. Also, even if they do have 4G service in Newton, that won't do us any good if you're not there with your 4G air card...

If Casey's on Thursday I can't cook, but can attend the seminar either day. Whatever is better for the group, i'm good with.

If you do it as a webinar the bandwidth requirement is quite low, doing it as a webinar is where the desktop sharing, audio and optionally the video is pushed out only and reverse communication is via chat, this save the presenter from being interrupted all the time and keeps focus on the presentation. Bandwidth wise, a webinar with one video feed, audio and desktop share only requires an average of 180Kbps and non video desktop share requires an average of 50Kbps

I’ll see what I can sort out and we can probably set up a test prior

My personal experiences with Ustream have never been great here in Oz, it seems to struggle with latency

I am in!! Book it baby!!

this will be an ENORMOUS educational experience for anyone/everyone that can make it or watch it or listen to it.

Companies and individuals would pay thousands of dollars for a seminar like this! For Casey to do this at cost is amazing.

I *wish* we could get a godd*mn CDRH rep there also! That would be fantabulous!!

anyway, im in. and dont think the $1000 Casey wants is a problem with the response we seem to be getting from this thread!
