Another great weekend playing with lasers gone in the blink of an eye again.

Great to catch up with the regular UKLEM attendees and to meet more new faces.

A big thanks to Jim for getting everything organized for the meet and well do to him for finally getting the Lexel Argon running properly.

A personal thanks to Francesco for the time he spent today bringing one of my blues back to life after it mysteriously dropped to almost nothing. Francesco breathed about 40mW of life back in to it by retuning the TEC's. it's still a long way off the 100mW mark is suppose to be doing.

    Wow.... just ....wooooow!
First off, if you wasn't here, you really really missed out on a great lem, no an EXCELLENT LEM. Perfectly organised by Smogthemog. To speak in the word of the LEM: Shabbalicious !

We had loads of fun, for people interested a short impression of the weekend.
In short, a weekend meeting likeminded people. Did a lot of shows, tried the Korg Nano controller which was kindly lended to me by Skulpture aka Graham, the ubercool DJ son of Kevski who professionally gave us bangin' toonez all weekend and mixed together the tracks nicely....very cool and really nice meeting him. Thanks Graham for the entertainment , adjusted my complete RGB with Rob, it got the TLC it needed.
Before adjusting it gave 1205mW..... when Rob was finished with his magic.......drumroll......1756mW ! Wow, and that is with the OLD laserwave dichros which i soon will replace..... ;-) Yep you could say i am a happy camper....

Also nice to check out other peoples projectors, let's wrap up what i saw:

Really liked Chris' small RGV, liked Kev's 3W very cool projector, also Andy T's 5W did really well !!! Ofcourse let's not forget Dan's triangle shaped projector and ofcourse the beast the people call Laserscope ;-)

Ofcourse the Stanwax shoebox with the high power greens in them rock. Nice design, fenced off clean optical area.... Furthermore, Andy's red rocked.
Paul from Scotland had nice stuff and learned me some cool tricks in Quickshow.
Carls projectors gave a nice output.

Jem's projector was also cool and easily adjustable because of the magnetic cover !
Liked Matt hexagonal shape, Rob's really cool military grade laptop with all the stuff built in liked the small touch screen as well.

Then ofcourse Kevski and Rob's corner with the nice control center. With sandwiched in between them Francesco with the uber Laserimage projector. A real inspiration for my next projector, but more about that later ;-)

If i forgot someone i am sorry, so many impressions. Each case was different, everybody had their own safety circuits in them. Fridaynight we had a visit of the coppers, after complaints about a 4W laser shining in the sky. I said i thought it was the strippers, but then i'd expected some nice ladies, not some dudes... ;-)
But luckily for us he was a great fan of Vangelis, so he dug lasers and turned out to be ok after all.

The Saturdaynight lase off outside was cool. Projecting UKLEM on the trees at about 200m away !
Really had fun on that hill, making funny (word) jokes and having lots of fun.
Also Francesco's flamethrower was cool spitting out fireballs 4meters high !

I am happy my projector behaved and worked.... in the end with the lase off i had to adjust some jumpers on the SRS ilda loop through board since my projector was tripping the safeties of projectors behind it in the loop. Luckily i asked McCarrot and SrS last week what the jumpers where for, so we could fix it fast by just plugging the jumpers the other direction, and Rob quickly came around with a solution to have every projector on the mega rig working. SHABBA !

It really got very quiet when Rob and Francesco started the first show. They quickly adjusted the shows in the Pangolin software and then.... All the projectors on.... BANG ! cool ! Wow ! You could hear camera's going off and people enjoyed their own projector as a part of the whole ! Incredible to see 12 projectors do their thing ! I really sat and smiled.... as did everyone else. It was a great ending to an even better weekend !

So all in all: Great Weekend, great people, really good atmosphere, nice surroundings, very well organised by Jim, lots of lasers, in one word:
    SHABBA !

Yes, I know you are all very tired and stuff, and are only able to type some cool stories and maybe upload a pic or two, but damn...

    WE NEED GODDAMN VIDS!

    Thanks.

Oh, and congratz Dimitri for increasing the power of your projector with the half of the original power! That puts me and my 100 mW projector really in the dark. If only my red hadn't blown... :-(

    Maybe next year?

Even though I could only make the Friday warm-up session, it was a fantastic LEM
Great to catch up with everyone, gutted I couldn't get back for a second round but there's always next time

I have to say the quality and scale of kit just gets better each time, some damn sexy hardware on show there this weekend (sorry.. it should just wipe off with a warm damp cloth)

A HUGE "well done" to everyone for making it happen!

And the next Surfleet LEM will be on the ... of ... ?

@Badger: indeed, the jacket was in front of Rob's.

@Simon: it was nice meeting you and indeed stuff gets better and better each time, you're right. Very nice to see different solutions and ideas to building and securing and mounting projectors.

I heard a rumour that the next would be mid november or mid december.
(I hope the latter, then it might be possible to combine it with some Xmas holidays and only have to ask 1 time for a leave ;-)
But if it will be November i'm also fine with that ;-)

Hope Jim makes a decision soon, so we all can make arrangments at work, so as many people as possible can fill up the hall!
    I didn't fail !

    Hi all

Just risen after a good nights sleep

Had a fabulous weekend, I think all the thanks have already been mentioned in the previous threads, but personal thanks must go to Jim for the organisation, Rob for his expertise, Dimitri for his razor sharp humour and great company, Francesco for his Pangolin knowledge, Dan for just being Dan, Kev and Graham for the brilliant toonz, Andy for the multi red and the mega green - Wow!, Oh, and Simon and Mark - Great to see you both again, shame you could only make the Friday.

Oh, Jim... It was me who won the £30 on the raffle

Another 'Oh'... Sorry I grabbed the wrong holography plates just as I was leaving for the LEM. This somewhat limited our capability to make some decent holograms. I promise there will be no such mistake next time!

Thanks guys and sorry if I missed anyone off the list.

    Cheers

    Jem
