if you put big mirrors on galvos do you run them at normal speed but the galvos actually run slow due to the added weight.
or do you run them slower so you dont burn them out due to the extra weight??
im lost on this one?

generally the scanner will need to be run slower, this is cos the mirror will affect the way the scanner reacts to the signals its given. With the DT scanners fitted with larger mirrors (inc. wide versions) the driver is fitted witha notch filter that will compensate for the effect of the larger mirror but realistically you will always see a performance deficit with a larger mirror. You can run at the same speed as the smaller mirrors but they will not always perform as accurately - at the very least the scanner will end up being driven harder which will lead to a greater chance of you shortening its life.
Also you need to consider the spacing of the scanners as the bigger the mirror the further the scanners will need to be away from each other to stop the mirrors touching. DT scanners use a different scanbloc between the std mirrors and the larger mirrors, the difference being the scanner spacing.

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.
