ADAT playback

Will a stock 8 channel ADAT playback laser shows fine? Does it only need to be modified if you want to record? Thanks again for everyones patients with just getting into the hobby and all my basic ?'s

Mike Dunn of First Light laser shows produces awesome and extremely affordable show modules.

I used him a great deal in my begginings and he an awseome guy and extremely talented!

He provided me a free Demo tape when I got my first ADAT.... maybe he will do the same for you

It is actually his rockin 80's show that I want to get and play. It isn't available as an LD2000 show or I'd just go that route. Looks like I found an ADAT local it has 800 hours on it though how many can you usually get out of a head?

well the first thing is it the old black face ?? or the newer gold one xt ??

if its the black face then you are good to go all you need to do is do the mod and your ready

RE: hrs, yeah, we have several that have years and years and hundreds of hours on them, and they still work-fine.. eventually, you will need some service, but either-way, if you do-go the ADAT route, invest in a good cleaning-tape, ie: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=220393007582

We do-have about 5-6 of the black-faces, already modded, (but not with Dr Lava's really-nice ILDA Db-25 I/O mod-suggestion, there... kudos, man!... ) but ready-to-go, otherwise... just 'laying-around / collecting dust'... PM if interested in chatting a price...

Although, I do have to say - unless you want to record, why-not just go with an HD-24? Even 'used', and get it cada-modded? Cause then, you eliminate the tapes and the (eventually-inevitable) breakdown of the transport-mechs / cleaning / maintenence, etc, etc... And I'm sure that Mike (if he simply CANNOT offer you the shows in LD2K ƒ) would be willing to transfer to an HD24 for you... Just some 'food for thought'...

But, if this is a 'cost-based decision', (ie: the one you found is like, waay-cheaper than what I could offer you a modded-one-for, and/or HD24...) well, like I said, at LEAST get yourself a cleaning-tape...
