There's a nice bit of cutting action going on down there at the moment, if anyone is bored! (as i am)

ive been watching it more or less constantly as ive been doing paper-based work... it is truly shocking how little they've been doing, considering the flow of oil coming from that BoP!

these robots are so clumsy. they keep having the saws torqued out of their grasp and then they have to spend 30 minutes just to go get it in the grip again. The robotic arms appear as if they are being controlled with clumsy joysticks, not biomimetic tracking.

now they have some big ass hydraulic pipe sniping son of a bitch commin down, i thought the pipe diameter was larger than half the diameter of the spinning blade. That would have been fail...even more than a fail it is already

I think they are, in fact, controlled with joysticks. At least the one's the Navy operated back when I was in only had joysticks for control. Just because there is a superior technology available doesn't mean they're willing to deploy it on a tethered submersible that operates over a mile below the surface.

Though I do agree that progress is agonizingly slow. Sigh...

i dont think this thing is going to cut the pipe...it appears that it will crush it may be??? i dont know but a pvc cutter works on that principle but I cant see that working with a metal pipe..i bet it crushes it or at least pinches it off...any bets???
