Melles Griot laser error

hey !

do any one know what the error is, when the main power led on a Melles Griot DPSS laser keeps bliking red after it has been turned on and the beam does not apear ? it is the 58GES model same as the GHS1.

if the laser crystal is dead how much does that cost to fix ??

The Red blinking LED is usually a temp issue. If it is the Xtal, or almost any sort of fix concerning temp or xtal repair, you are better off buying a new system (better one also)

Minimum repair costs for Melles sytems (usually) for xtal, temp problems run ~$5000+

Do you have the software to hook this to a computer? does it have the serial port on the power supply?

no i dont have any software for it, but it does has the RS232 connector

Most likely due to an error in the TEC circuit....maybe a diode or crystal TEC. It will not allow the diode to ramp up to threshold when it has a fault present. I have the software to interface to it. I am sure someone in your area has it as well... or closer to you than me..I have 2 heads and one driver here. May have the parts you need. Let me know when you find out.
