Default Wanted: SP164/168 Umbilical connector or complete umbilical

My SP164 whitelight decided to burn out its connector after a short between pins (taking out a fair proportion of the exciter components at the same time)...

The exciter has been rebuilt again, does anyone have a 164/168 umbilical to exciter connector (AMP), or a complete umbilical assembly available?

    I am based in CH/F/D

    Thanks, Ilya

Sorry to hear of your troubles... but, good news - I have 2 complete, perfect-condition umbilicals, taken cleanly off 2 168s that recently went to lasertube heaven (actually recycled all the metal! so all lugs / connectors are in-tact - no cut anything... I can post pix if you need.. PM, if interested...

    thx

My guess, since CH is the airplane tail code for Land of the Suisse....

Is that F/D is the canton in which he lives in Switzerland.

I had simialr trouble 2 years ago - I ended up making a connector from scratch

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Rob, excellent work! I don't have access to a mill or lathe, so unless you've got spares from your rebuild, I think I'm going to have to use an old one someone's got lying around.

hint: If you wanna source one it may be worth filling in your location in your profile - at least we can narrow you down to a continent then and help maybe more forthcoming.

You're close... ...you got 1 out of 3... re: "F" & "D" - think: those little white oval 'Euro-country stickers' you see on cars... what countries are those letters....

    Anyhoo:

Sir Ilya - of the two umbilicals, one has (apparently) the interlock pins missing (??), and two others in the center, on the bottom...

...the other one is 'full' -

...and the 'yellow' down-in the core, I think may be gold-plating on the lugs... not sure, but certain it is not 'rust'... these are both very clean umbilicals / plugs (other than a bit of dust/dirt, etc)...

One 'correction' to my original description - the magnet wires were cut, just about right-at the magnet, so there is plenty of 'length', but it should not be an issue to 'splice' those wires to your magnet, with proper insulated / jacketed splices... All other wires are intact with ring-lugs, etc, as-seen...

I assume, (since, clearly these lasers need both a magnet and interlock-loop going up to the head...) they simply used some of those 'other' pins - which ones, I dunno...did not check, but can ohm-out, and advise, if-important to your consideration... So, lemme know, which, if either, you have interest-in... I will answer your PM-shortly...

    Hope this helps...
    cheers...
