Barbie has no future.... Modern American teenagers are working towards gender neutral, in a way that would give even feminists nightmares.
Surveys showing how many American teenage females that would consider owning or wearing a skirt... Well lets just say its declining rapidly, at least until they have to go to "war" to compete for a particular guy.
Hosiery sales are less then 30% of the 1990s market.
Case in point. I walked into a room of 15 or so young ladies of twenty somethingish future PhDs at my former employer.. One of their peers had her adorable baby in the lobby, and I asked the group if they wanted to go see the newborn. Expecting to be ran over by the mass exodus of enthusiastic women, as tradition would hold,..... Well, I left the room to the screeching chant of "No Babies, No Babies"; They all planned on waiting til their late 30s to even consider children..
Scary for a traditionally raised male like me... And the confusion in gender roles in youth WILL have consequences, no matter if you are traditional or liberated.
