    Default Stabilite 2017

I have been browsing for a laser for quite some time. Finally I found a great deal on a Stabilite 2017 with the power supply and remote. The rack it came in also included two A.L.E. Systems Inc
YAG Drive Arc lamp power supplies, 300v, 50amp. The YAG drives are not hooked to the laser or power supply in any way. Although I have not tested the laser as of yet, I dont believe the yad drives are needed to operate it, but I am not sure. Can someone tell me what these drives are for? Or might have been used for? Everything is 208 3 phase laser is water cooled. Thanks in advance, Mike

That is the electronics to a Ti:Sapphire regenerative amplifier. The Argon pumps a oscillator, which feeds into the regenerative amp. The amp is pumped by a doubled YLF laser powered with the ALE supplies. The HV stuff is to drive the pockels cell within the amp. The analogue timing computer links it all together.

That is a very nice system! Hopefully the argon will get up and running. The ALE supplies should sell for more then you paid for the whole system.

I am about 10 miles north of Los Angeles. The head only shows 21 hours on it, will try to get this thing fired up today.

2017 PSUs are sometimes phase sensitive, if you get errors on the display, start interchanging phases.
If the tube starts keep I max at 28-30 amps.

    Dear,

    Nice !
Only the Power Supply Unit 2550 + the remote controller 2670 are needed.
Don't forget the water cooling (of course).

I have the same laser but i'm still waiting my three-phase connection.

I'm looking for the user manual / service manual. Do you have one ?

    best regards,
    Zorg

The ops manual for SPs is pretty much boring. Most of what you need is already in the FAQ.

SP has not released service documentation/schematics for ANY of their lasers since the 164/265/171/271 days.

A SP ion laser manual will have a nice theory chapter, a bit on cleaning/mounting/aligning of optics, a list of options, rarely a list of error codes, documentation on how to use the serial port and thats it...

The FAQ chapters on optics cleaning/aligning will cover everything except fill, and since a 2017 is autofill, no need for that in most cases. Even if you did have the manual, it will not tell you the tube voltage or the operating point vs lifetime etc,,

I do have a manual for it, 118 pages in all. Send me your email and I will reply with it. Funny enough, after looking around, I couldnt find the correct 3 phase plug either. I will have to wait until this weekend and "borrow" one from a friend

I cant tell from your photo, is that a UV beam or just a plasma spot and its not aligned? The camera's intensity clipping is messing me up.
