445nm blue diode build options

Here is the spec sheet on the diode I have from ebay. Looks really close to yours.

Also I did a really fast thermal test.

I set the diode at .35a and that worked out to 100mw after about 30min of warm up time no tec. The temp stabilized at 100f.

Then I turned on the tec and plotted the power after about 10 min.
At it's min temp it was 73F and 135mw. I then turned the tec off and let it warm back up. It came back down to 99mw and 102f probably a little warmer because of the thermal mass of the hot side of the tec.

Did you by any chance receive the stock lens as well? It would be quite interesting to see the beam quality. Though I suspect at the very least a cylindrical combined with an aspheric lens will be required.

I only have one for blu-ray: pass RGB reflect violet.
I guess I will get a lot of losses? Any comments?

Yes I have also the lens from the projector and it seems to make a good beam when combined with prisms. Unfortunately I got one with a damaged coating and it scattered a lot of light so I exchanged it with a lens27. I get another projector these days and will make some tests with the original lenses.

Don't forget there's a transmit red and blue reflect green dichroic & a reflect blue transmit red and green dichroic in each projector...

Reflect reds are probably low-pass, so basically 'reflect red, pass everything else'.

The Blurays are probably high-pass, but I don't know the cutoff wavelength of those. If that's above 445nm it might work, but the only way to be sure is to give it a shot.

You'd probably have a hard time finding 'reflect green' dichros, since they require a narrowband coating. A 'pass red, reflect everything else' (GBR) dichro, which has a high-pass coating on it, might be a useful one.

Worst case scenario you need a new dichro which bounces blue.

We'll see, and after all it's a 700 mW diode so I can afford wasting a lot

So, once I have the mount, I'm assuming I'll need a housing for the diodes right? Should I just get some of the Aixiz ones from Pat, or should I hang on for something being produced by drlava and others? Or will I need a housing regardless?

So, is there anybody willing to provide a build service or a kit of all parts needed when everything is sorted out?

Would rather not mess up my first go on this diode, will keep that fun back for a cheap red to practice on.

Only wish I could have afforded 2 diodes but funds are tight with the other parts needed for this. Hope we can find a supplier of the diodes or another group buy comes along some time.
