After all the news around the Blue diodes I think it is time to start a Group Buy for LASORB.
This post is just a quick start, more information will follow or you can take a look on the website of LASORB on www.lasorb.com


What is LASORB and why do I need it?
LASORB is a device that is designed specifically to protect laser diodes from ESD and power surges.
LASORB overcomes the problems of previously known ESD protection schemes by preventing reverse-bias of the laser diode. It also prevents ESD or other power-related faults from exceeding (and in many cases, even reaching) the maximum forward-bias voltage of the laser diode. LASORB is able to do this while not adding significant resistance or capacitance to the laser diode, thereby not complicating the task of driving the laser diode.


Different types of LASORB; What is the best part number for my application?
In general, the way that we use laser diodes in our projectors I can recommend two different part numbers:
- L44-47-121-288 Optimized for Red and IR laser diodes
- L44-47-121-833 Optimized for Blue and Blu-Ray laser diodes
To keep this group buy simple I will only offer these two parts in this group buy. If you want to order one of the other part numbers (see website) you can contact me any time by email.


How do I connect LASORB to my Laser Diode?
By simply placing the LASORB device directly across the terminals of the laser diode, the laser diode can be protected against the harmful effects of both positive- and negative-ESD, and also from the effects of power surges that can occur during power-up and power-down phases.
It is important to keep the distance between the laser diode and LASORB as short as possible, certain not more than 1-2 cm.


What will be the price for a LASORB in the Group Buy?
For now I will keep the same prices that are on the LASORB website.
This means that the more LASORBS are ordered (both part numbers together) the cheaper the price will be!

How do I send the payment for my order?
The most convenient way would be to use PayPal. Probably there will be an additional fee for the PayPal transaction added to the price.

Here are some important new facts of this Group Buy:

The price of the LASORBs is now definitive: *old price*
(This price stays the same when quantity goes above 100+)

The shipping costs for 1-5 pcs will be €2,00 and for 5+ pcs €3,00
(It doesn’t matter if you are ordering from the EU or outside the EU)

The PayPal fee is 4% of the total amount. Please use the Euro as currency.

The LASORBs will be send to the address provided in your PayPal.

I think I will start to accept payments around Wednesday the 9th of June.
This means that the first LASORBS will ship starting from Monday the 14th.

Hey,

I read somewhere that you need to short the pins of the LD when attaching the Lasorb, is this correct?

Anyway - put me down for 2x blue lasorbs!
