    That's really interesting. Wonder if they're spreading the beam out with a lens? Hard to tell from the video, but I'd think they would have to do something to make it easier to aim. (After all, a person's pupil is a small target, so if you've got a wider beam it makes it easier to hit.)

    Blinding weapons (that is, ones that are expressly intended to cause permanent blindness) are of course forbidden by the Geneva Convention, but "temporary blindness" (by which I think they mean "flash blindness") weapons seem to be OK.

    Ahh, yes, the "dazzler" or whatever the "official" name is now.
    Pretty sure it's been used in some warmer parts of the world for a while now.

    If I'm not mistaken, some of my former co-workers trained with it last year - although not sure if they were the dazzlER or the dazzlEE...
