Not really into laser pointers, but a 1w blue pointer could be cool

    Lightbulb

Just toss a module into a small flashlight... Actually, I say get a full sized maglight for one of these. Make it as sturdy as it is powerful...

I think Jayrob over at LPF supplies a good range of hosts for this purpose.

I 2nd that one... Here's just one link, (you'll find the others through it too), but Jay has a great range and from experience the quality is dead on. I know PL doesn't do the pointer thing much but if you only do it once, talk to Jayrob - http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs...red-43857.html - this is one of his most popular kits.

    Here's a driver for such a purpose..

Also I have a few extra 18650 hosts machined out of aluminum (the black to grey fade):

I only mention this here because I know you would be safe.

Dave! wtf? come on. you are a laser pro. Do you want to see how many matches or balloons, black tape you can burn through?

    jk
    I will build one also
but I do fear for the onslaught of regulation that is going to ensue.

there are a lot of people that should not have 5mw. none than less 1W of laser.

    What a stupid thread

We should ALL be behind banishing anything more that 5mW pointers in whatever colour.
As Chad has said Dave, I am suprised you have even mentioned this fact!

Difference here is that Dave knows what he is doing with lasers ... he would be safe. It's other morons that don't understand the first thing about lasers that shouldn't be allowed to use pointers >5mW.

I contemplated REFUSING diodes sales in the GB for people who wanted to make pointers from them.
However I later realised this would be more of a pain to "police". So I reluctantly left the flood gates open...
