how high voltage does a gm20 want?
and
should i ad a current limiting resistor in series?

im doing 12 volts on my Gm20,
most people i think , do 5 volts, but 5volts was not enough swing for me, so ive been doing 12 and so far, its been running good.

i wouldnt push it farther than 12 though.......

do you have any current limiting?

No current limiting, im feeding it 12 volts from a regulated power supply.
