    Default Insulation needed?

Wow, I go away for a week and all these 445nm diodes pop up for insanely low prices! Not surprisingly, I have scraped up some funds and have put my foot in the door, for my scanner

I believe these diodes are case neutral? Do you recommend they be insulated from the baseplate? I don't intend on TEC cooling my module, as my baseplate should be enough thermal mass to keep it happy, but I haven't seen any talk on whether they need to be insulated or not.

    Cheers,
    Dan

both anode and cathode are isolated from the diodes case...

What I did is hook the diode up to the driver, and tie the case to a solid equipment chassis ground.

I talked about this in a different thread, but I've found that connecting the case pin to the cathode on floating-case diodes helps make them much less susceptible to ESD.
