I have always been fasinated by mixing various types of light within crystals and I have posted a few images here in the past on PL.
Recently my laser collection has been growing, and I hope there is a 60 mw blue comming soon too, as well as some mirror so I make more use of the power I have. The end goal is to mix RGB within the rock to see how powerful light output we can get.
The main change recently is the accuision of a MaXYZmodule 110 mw RED, this gave me enough red to mix my green with. The best thing about this module is that I can run it flat out all day, and it just gets slightly warm, is not a modded laser its well within operating limits.
I have done a full review on this powerfull module which can be found here http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=121
Whilst experimenting I noticed my favorite quartz crystal was able to pass a beam, with a slight shift. This rock has proved the perfect crystal mixing medium.
When illuminated with the MaXYZmodule the rock glows a deep red.
Now we add a nice green beam.
The resultant colour is a beatuful lime yellow, it does not show up well in these images, but in real life its a thing of beauty.
Remember when doing these experiments always look out for your eyes a good protective pair of filered glasses is a must.
