Default Can someone help me dig up a previous thread?

    Hi All,

Much to my amazement, James Lehman just posted this to the ILDA list:

    *******************************************

    Read this:

    http://laserboy.org/formatt

If you'd like to comment, in a place where others might see it, consider joining The LaserBoy Forum and posting in this thread:

    http://laserboy.org/forum/index.php/topic,455.0.html

    James.

    *************************************************

I posted a reply, in which I wrote that James's view of history is off, because his story starts "in late 2003" but by that time, the file format stuff had already been settled.

I remember posting some information about that here on Photon Lexicon, along with excerpts of the relevant emails. But I am apparently not very good at using the Search facility on this forum.

Would someone please find the relevant thread so I can post it to the ILDA list for all to see?

I know it brings up bad memories but...

By the way, I am sorry that I haven't had more time to commit to PL these days. I've been traveling like crazy with a lot of tradeshows. But my feet will be on the ground for the next few months, and as I get caught up, I'll try to pop in here more often.

    Best regards,

    William Benner

    Thumbs down Un-freakin'-believable.....

    Well, I guess the timing is about right;
now that SELEM is being talked about, James comes out of the woodwork with his latest round of rantings & ravings, which now includes posting invites on the ILDA laserists' lists.
All with absolutely no reason or encouragement to do so from anyone from this forum, Pangolin, or ILDA.

Gotta' love the new level of delusionary greatness expressed in his signature on the LB forum, along with the slightly-veiled jabs aimed PL members in his "ILDA is Over" thread.

A legend in his own mind:

    ILDA is over
    .....

    James.

    Hi guys,

DZ wrote to me privately and reminded me that it was this post:
    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...t=5186&p=61590

DZ also asked if I'd make it to SELEM. I am certainly planning to...

Groan... I had hoped he (James) would let this die. Guess not.

For the record, he called me about a week ago, ostensibly to talk about other things, but of course format 3 came up, and the conversation pretty much went downhill from there. I tried to salvage things by getting off the phone and moving things to E-mail, but that didn't work. After a few exchanges, I decided that I was arguing with someone that didn't want to see reason, so I gave up on the whole mess. Two days later he posted to the ILDA list server. Sigh...

The tragic thing is that regardless of what he thought about the new format, all he had to do was modify his code to support *both* versions and all this drama could have been settled over 6 years ago. But no...

That would be great Bill. You've been missed. Looking forward to seeing you at SELEM!

Yeah, the fact he has e-mail from you is included in one of his posts in his "ILDA is Over" thread....
