Default Blu-Ray Disc LED Laser possibilities

Whilst looking for a source of high power laser diodes I became interested in the devices that are now being offered as samples for the new Sony Blu-Ray discs.

This manufacturer http://www.nichia.com/product/laser-main.html has samples of a 200mw 405 nm device ? Anyone experienced a laser at this wavelength ?

Sony is planning hugh production of these laser diodes and I was wondering if the devices were suitable (emitter size etc) for incorporating into laser module ?

Have you played with them Marconi, K_car, Sec ?

It would be hella cool to have a violet pointer but think about the possibilites. A DVD can hold 4 GB, a blu-ray can hold 25. Thats pretty crazy.

Yep, I talked to them about the 405's in that power.

About $40000 each now(im sure if you buy 10 you could get a couple dollars off). To quote my contact guy there: "Yea, when you start seeing blue-rays at "Best-Buy" then you might want to contact us again."

405 is one of those pointers that would hardly be visable in the air, however you could scan to a white sheet on the wall and get some rather beautiful images...
