Default iPhone noob - "must have" app recommendations?

OK, so I just became an iPhone noob with a brand-new 3GS.
Not hacked, whacked, cracked or anything like that - just straight from the AT&T store.

    SO -

Any killer "must have" app recommendations from the laser geek crowd?

    Thanks dudes!!

I don't have one and wouldn't know where to start but how about that app that allows you to run LivePRO!

I can't think of any killer apps for the iPhone, there a couple for the ipad.

Just hit the free section of the store and download a bunch of stuff to play with. there is a cool remote by apple that controls itunes. I have a chase bank app that I use all the time. There are a lot of handy little utilities. There is a great converter calculator that converts everything to everything. The I hart radio is handy.

There is so much stuff... just go looking.

I use Westernits conversion app quite a lot. Also use dipswitch calculator quite a bit for the lighting work. I've got mine JAilbroken so I can use backgrounder/kirikae (its a 3G) as I can't get native multi app support under OS4. Ebay app is useful, and Paypal.

Warning! May induce war time flashbacks. "I've seen some things, and some stuff!"

Another cool app but requires more toys...

    Hi Randy

Oh no you haven't! You should have listened to your parents. Just say no to drugs.
The iPhone has become a serious illness for me

This is a real handy feature to go straight to your favorite websites. First type in the address you want to go to. Once it has loaded, press the plus sign at the bottom of your screen and an options diolouge will appear. Press 'add to home page' now that website will be a button on your home screen just like the apps do you can just press it an go straight there. Great for say somewhere like ...um...PL...

Oh ow, I just told you the equivalent of how to smoke crack

I can't feel to responsible, you already started down a slippery slope

    Ok killer apps.

XE Currency - you can choose ten currencies to get realtime updates on.

Shazam- when you hear a song you like on the radio, open shazam, press tag now. Hold yourphone near the speaker and let it record for 12secs. It will send it to their sever to analyse then send you back the name, artist and album ad well as an iTunes, YouTube and facebook link.

Speedtest.net - let's you test your upload and download speeds.

    Hope this 'helped' the addiction.

Warning kids, PL on an IPhone = serious addiction

Maybe if I get one I'll get out of the house more often. Do they have an air conditioning app? It's freakin hot and humid out there!

    Hi Adam
    Ah, that logic is dangerous....
If it allows you to get a PL fix before you get out of bed then the chances of getting out of the house are slim however if you have dead time to kill, like being on a train or at weighting at an airport, you can get your hit there so you are free to talk to your girlfriend or family when you get home.

Now this part I'm not kidding.
This phone will permanently rearange your everyday patterns.

For people who aren't down with Apple's jive, I hear the android phones are great to.

    Ha!
There is a good reason for a term being coined "iWidow"

Don't joke, I just had a look, there is an app called girlfriend.

There was one called fake girlfriend to. I think you leave your phone in another room and it calls out to you to sound like your girl friend.

Oh, my girl is looking at me kind of . She said something about being a nerd.
