    Soon to be released------- only offered here on PL



    Well, We've decided to go ahead and start making a few of the 150mw 658nm
    modules

    The prototype is doing very well... And behaving as it should

    It will use the NEW Sony 250mw diode...
    Altho this diode can produce more power than what we will be making them at..
    We feel that running them at this power level (150 to 175mw)
    will ensure long life...
    ((We are already using this diode in the 130mw modules)

    They will also include TTL blanking and run from DC +9 to +12volts

    I am still trying to find a good solution to the beam profile !!!
    As these produce the same pattern as the previous diodes used.
    And It doesnt seem to be caused by the lens or brass housing.
    Must be that "NEW" optical waveguide they are using in the manufacturing.
    The key to making them Higher- Powered.

    As usual we have been running them on ebay, they seem to fetch up to 400.00USD

    ( Edit: as of sept 1 they are priced at 345.00USD each for PL members )

    Good job, I'm interested to buy one when you release them!
    About modulation, do you charge more for analog modulatiom?
    And is the focus still adjustable on these modules? I think it's important for me to correctly mix with my green beam...

    Hi SEB...Welcome back

    I have not quite finished the analog modulation ..
    That is still under developement ,...but soon.

    As they are now, you can somewhat modulate them with audio.
    All that would take is a little biasing (a small voltage)
    applied to the input thru a pot and add a 1 to 10mf /16v cap for the audio
    input ..very easy..
    But for true analog that takes some doing as we have not had much call
    for that , only once or twice..
    That also requires an external box for the driver...
    At the moment they are self contained to do TTL.
    These will probably sell for over 345.00 USD.

    (As of Sept 1 the price has been set to 345.00USD each)

    Yes I think it's quite more difficult to design an analog modulation...
    Thanks a lot for the 165mW, I just can't wait to receive it :lol:

    For sure, I will enjoy.

    Each are measuring over 155mw
    Same form as all the rest...

    Just received the module, thanks!!
    Very beautiful unit, works at perfection.

    Also, these modules uses a 250mW MAX laser diode (150mW CW), but they aren't very stable at that power level?
    Do you tryed to cool the module with a TEC, to try to bring the diode stable at 250mW? Maybe they are getting to warm at >200mW...

    The modulation works perfectly with +12V.
    But, if I use TTL +5V from my laser projector D/A card, do you think it will work?

    My understanding is that they are 250mW MAX pulse @ 40% duty cycle. 150mW is a *reasonable* CW operation. Ive seen that the red module I got from them was rock solid as far as output goes.

    Start Increasing the current to the diode and it starts shifting away from 655nM really quick as heat wreaks havoc. You will start noticing the beam being the same brightness as you really start pushing the diode. It is infact producing more but the freq jumps also.

    I destroyed my first MAXYZ module with an experiment in peltier cooling, even with a good regulation circuit they still form condensation on the diode lens. Cant cheaply ramp the diode and peltier in a linear fashion together.

    Its a game of coin toss with diodes

    And if you place the Peltier away from the lens (the most behind the module as possible), and set the TEC at ~5-10°C? The metallic laser case will drive the cold to the laser diode, and maybe without condensation?

    If the laserdiode is at 10°C, it is about 20°C below the normal operating temperature. I believe that the wavelength shift is 3nm/10°C, so the final wavelenght will be 649nm... A little increase in brighness, not?

    Hey guys,...
    I think here in the warmer humid climates is a problem for us...

    At least when I experiment , I must be real careful..

    Best thing to do is, seal the unit up in an enclosure and
    pump in some nitrogen, a few psi worth ..just enough
    to make positive pressure..

    without it ...say buy to the diode..
    Altho they are sealed...its still forming on the window..blocking the beam
    and back-reflecting into the facet..which is bad..!!!

    Also, If you do..do this..you must also drop the current some as the
    lasing threshold is lower as well as the total current requirements.
    If you can meet the above requirements, then it'l work
    and get you the lower wavelength...

    As they are now ..658 isnt too bad considering , most of the diodes
    I see out that claim 650nm are really over 660nm..and creeping fast
    up to 670nm.!!!

    Speaking of Back-reflection ...be very carefull here with your mirrors
    these higher -powered diodes..they dont like it..
