:?: Do you have any more of these tri-chro units ? If so I would be interested in becoming to own one of these. I am begining into the arena of true laser show display set. I have good equipment now and am trying to incorporate new ideas into the show set. Looking for that white argon at a reasonable amount of funds.

Well.. I made my first yellow beam, and it was not easy. Aligning the two laser is a bitch, and it was not perfect either. Once I get some "perfect" I'll take some pictures and post them to my gallery. It's very interesting though, I really can't get a perfect beam. If I align the laser to a spot on the wall 7 feet away, you can see the two beams combine into one about 3 feet from the trichro, when I align it 2 feet from the trichro, the beam split up @ 7 feet. This is going to take hours.. Unless I settle for a multiline style colored beam.

Marconi, your laser is rock solid! Can't wait to get these babies align and mounted into the projector.

Heya! Ivan came down and we played with my ghettorig... He's taking them
back to his shop to do a real mount...

Basically you need to hardmount one of the lasers in relation to the trichro and
give the other two full 6 degree of freedom mounts (XY translation stage and
tilt-swivel-rotate)... (Rotation because if you match polarization, your incident
losses will be minimal)

Your alignment at that point is getting the beams parallel, then using the
XY stage to move the two parallel beams together...

Since I'm ashamed to show what I used to get the adjustments in real
life (Drilled through a bunch of rackmount ears as a mount and translation
slides) I'll wait until next week when Ivan gets the real mounts fabbed to
show it off

Love to see it.. I have my ghetto setup on the kitchen table. I finally got the beam together as tight as I can, and it looks damn good!... My only fear is trying to mount the setup, since it took over 3.5 hrs of aligning to get the S.o.B perfect.. I really don't have the cash to put out for those sweet newport stages, I figure I'll go through about 4 sheets of metal to get it right.. I kinda wish I have aligned everything upside down, that way I could spray some glue on a piece of sheet metal and stick it.. Oh well, back to the shop, or should I say the kitchen!..

This took about an hour to setup and I have the newport stages. Without them I would be pissed.

I understand your pain. I used to do this with different weights of paper untill everything was "just right".

That is a great shot spec!.. you look something out of real genius.. You should throw that blue Uniphase you have into the mix.. Let see some white!..

That yellow looks "tight" and "brite"..very kewl

Yeah,, it takes quite a while to get the hang of it, but once you've done
this a bunch of times , It gets much easier...

Its always a problem with the mounts..it take some
ingenuity and patience...but its worth it... :lol:

Yadda is correct...
Always fix-mount the green and do all the adjust ments with the other two colors...Good illustration dude..

Also..sometimes you may have to adjust focus or use other optics to get
the beam diameters to match..

Now , You guys can see why "WE" chose the lenses that we did..
It was to get that super thin beam and at the same time get decent power
and somewhat of a good pattern...NOT easy..

Speaking of lenses...
If you guys should need replacements for the scratched or pitted ones
let us know...

I know the plastic ones are cheap (about 20.00each)
But it beats the 82.00 price for the glass ones..

This was the only way to keep the price down... :twisted:

Wow those photos are fantastic...

Unfortunately Ivan took these away before I could get pictures,
but it took about 15 minutes to get these lined up including drill time...

This is how it looked (except the L brackets were actually stolen from
some rack ears)

When I get them back, it'll be rigged with real optical parts so it
won't be as beautifully ghetto.
