With the FB3 the signals are differential (at least they are on my XE) so that helps greatly to lower any losses from long cable runs.

I am sure most of the problem lies in the shit ishow dac. thanks for all the speedy responses, I will test the laser with the 50 foot and the 100 footer again tonight. To get a more detailed idea of the problem.. the last time, i was in a real rush before a show so i just swaped out the cable for the 25 ft luckily it was close enough

ive been using cat5 wire, (instead of db25/ilda) cables, works like a charm, and easy to find a last minute replacement cable if needed!

Single cat5 for single color projectors, but you can use 2 cat5 runs, for full color projectors.
(my full color is .NET , so also use single cat5 for that one)

Wow, I feel dumb, I guess the 50 foot cable is just bad. When I hooked up the 100 foot it worked just fine. I then attached a 25 foot and then a 12 ft to the 100 foot, Still worked fine !!!

    What a relief !
Thanks for a Super fast response this board is so great !

Don't feel dumb.. Happened to me a couple times before I realized that it was for sure the cable. I went for awhile thinking I had a dodgy connection in the projector or DAC somewhere.

    Cool

Had that happen once with a brand new 50 ft ILDA cable. One of the pins was bent, and I didn't catch it when I hooked it up. I really thought something was wrong with the projector (was a rough trip, and it took a few hard bounces in the back of the Jeep). Was setting the projector up at a friend's house and started freaking out at the possibility that I had damaged the projector. Fortunately, I always bring extra cables, and a quick cable swap solved the problem.

For the record, I've run standard 25 pin ILDA cable as long as 150 ft without any problems. That's with my QM-2000 as the source.
