I went to the one in Dallas, great event! They had some lasers set up on one of the indoor stages. Two greens on each side and one RGB way up top. Very Nice!

I am not sure but I think I know who did the lasers this year and I can ask.

I would ask them for a one million dollar budget and work your way backwards from that.

I couldn't see any lasers obviously in use so maybe they were weak or the camera didn't pick them up that well.

That said, if you were going to use lasers in a venue that size, I think most companies would go for multiwatt not milliwatt.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that if a company in the Uk was asked to do it they'd probably choose greens between 3-5 watts and RGB in the 5 watt + range (assuming they had them available) simply because of the sheer size of the venue.

As Pat said, think of a budget then work back!

I saw a few people jumping around.. so I guess it depends on how you define "dancing"..

I would think if there were ever an event worthy of a few laserscopes, that would be it..

Hmm rough estimation i think 20.000 people?

I would say minimum 5W OPSL green or 10W chinese green, or 10W RGB's to start with

And with this venue you could even try to see if its possible to do audiance scanning in seating areas on the opposite sid of the podium.

But more important, 4 MDG smoke machines to fill this area with good smoke, with not smoke you need a 40W in this venue.
