a red diode needs something like 2.7v where as a 405 or 445 diode needs 5 odd volts.

so the drivers are designed differently.

    Laser Warning nope, it isn't a red driver, it's a 445nm driver

Well the voltage drop is HUGE across the diode. I finally did some extensive testing and in order to get more than 400mA into the diode at 4-4.5v I need much more than even 9vdc on the driver. SO far I am at near 685.7mA at 13.2vdc into the driver and All I get across the diode is 4.178vdc across terminals. Something is really weird here. Diode is outputting probably in the 500-600mW ballpark as I can punch a CD case in under a second and black leather in 2-3 seconds. LD barely gets warm in my maxsink.

No a lpc-815 needs 2.8-3.35vdc to run properly, 405nm and 445nm need 4.0-4.5vdc av and can be run up to 5vdc for lower currents.

    did you read my posts?

did you order the red driver or blue driver from robin?

I ordered 2 of the 405nm drivers and one red drivers

i see, i will have to check when i get home but i have a feeling that you need to use different tracks (R1,2,3) on the 405 drivers to get full power. but i could be wrong.

i have all the info at home so will check later.

also the diode takes just over an 1amp i belive to reach 1watt so if your putting in 600 odd ma you wont be getting full power.

no the driver is inputting 600-700mA into the diode. I am supplying the driver with WAY more than needed current. On the 445 and 405nm driver track 2 and 3 are cut. 4 and 1 are left closed. It is like I need 14-15v to reach full output, which is really is nuts. The voltage drop on the driver is like ~3:1
considering a flexmod driver requires 6v max to run a 445nm to 1W and beyond so long as you have enough current.

i run my die4laser blue driver with 7v and can run a 445 diode at over 1500mw

Angry Really, 7Vdc - 1500mW... wow .. what's going on with my driver?

I don't understand why then I cannot get past 400mA on the driver at ~7vdc at 3A.
Do you have a picture of the jumpers? I have no idea why this is happening. I followed the convoluted instructions on the word file, but he seems to indicated cutting J2 and 3, but there is no picture of what exactly I should do.

    ...

    Lost.

when i get home from work i have all the information needed.

are you sure your using the blue drivers not the red driver?

    try a different driver

Yes indeed, I have 2 drivers with HPV written on the back and one that has STD.
STD is the red driver. I am using the HPV for the 445nm as is mentioned in the literature about this driver.
