    Default Playing laser games...

I've been working with some talented folk playing around with laser software...

First up is "wipein"... which is a laser optimized wipeout clone I'm writing.
You can always hear wipeout being played on the projectors here since
that's how we vent after steaming our brains with laser stuff, so I figured
I'd whip up a quick hack to combine the two. (This is probably a bad idea)

We've been testing this software on the scope, so no laser pics yet. But so far, it's fun

We also had to work on a track editor, since entering numbers for the track
    data makes me go cross-eyed.

Other projects include laser pong... The idea here is that instead of playing on
the screen, you actually play pong as a beam show!!!

A quick program which had I asked one of the principal developers write within
6 hours to demonstrate his strengths and weaknesses when he joined on...

    Laser Asteroids

Note we called it assroids until my wife objected since we were talking about
it over dinner, so we renamed it to gasroid.

    Default Can help out

Hey if you need any help with coding I know a fair ammount of C, C++, and LInear algebra (plus I am sure spec wouldn't mind seeing me debug this stuff on his wall).
    What a fucking fag.

Heh, thanks marconi! when I get a blue dpss system (Spec, that's you man!)
I'm going to do a big movie showing off all this stuff using your red and green
modules attached to spec's trichros... The green's great too man, I haven't
looked at seeing if I can analog modulate it like the red... I peeked under the
black box (since I think black boxes were all meant to be peeked insite) and
I love it! Everything is solid right where it counts. With the red I was able
to modulate it using a DAC (it starts to dim at 2-3V and extinguishes at
slightly over 5V)... Any thoughts on the greenie?

    Secondsun: Sounds interesting! Quick questions.
So what platforms do you use?
    What libraries do you prefer?
What do branch of coding do you find interesting? (i.e. algorithms/graphics/file munging/DB/UI/etc)

We have lots of fun stuff we're working on, and most of it is not really "planned".
We also develop most of the apps as cross-platform (Windows, Linux and OSX) so there's lots of flexibility...

Heh, yeah, one of our primary developers converted fulltime to OSX, and
I happened to have a G4 running Tiger. When we tested the new board
on it, it worked! So we've added the OSX targets to our build process and
so far it works seamlessly We are also working on a native xcode port
of the apps to OSX, since the USB driver support there is more mature.

Spec's been previewing an earlier version of the app, but even packaging
it up for spec, I realized that we've still got a lot of work to make it usable.
Mostly in the documentation and optimization portions. I've gotten a few
good ideas from him and so it'll be a while before I'm confident enough
about it to release it... but I'd guestimate a few months... right now I'm
working on extracting data from AVI's to autotrace. I'll make a post when
it's more complete to give people an update.

    man.. that is awsome

I got this idea, have you tryed that EYE-cam stuff on sony Play-Station ?

When your playing a "scate-board" game, you actually standing on the floor moving in all directions.
And the cam is LOCKED to your movment on the hands\feet\head!
So when you move you also move the "scater" on the game !!

What if you have combined that software with laser..
So when you are standing on the dancefloor, you could just move your arms up and down and the laser beam did follow your arms

Almost like you lift up the beam from the air
THAT will be cool..... with your stuff going on, I`m sure it will happen somedays..

    Ceep up the good stuff...

    Ha, that sounds awesome

I have a PS2, I should go get one of those games to see what it does.

In terms of realtime, should be no problems, we even have realtime video
capture and render working (see the video conference thread)...
