    I often wonder if a polarising filter set to 45° would help to protect cameras.

    I believe I read somewhere that the lasers were on a google bus, driving around
    leading in trailing technology

    this has to be a 5D MKII problem, my 1D and 1D MKII have been hit by countless lasers directly into a wider, larger lens and I have not had an issue on either camera, and they both have smaller sensors than the 5D MKII...
