maybe we can get a QM2010 that uses DDR2 or DDR3?

    one can dream right?

I dont bother importing shows with LC-ADAT... its just too much of a hassle and then takes forever to load etc etc

get yourself a USB-soundcard dac and just "play" the ADAT tapes out the soundcard, works great and you can play back hour long shows without any load time, and make playlists in whatever player your using and watch multiple hour-long shows without load times or clicking anything
I picked up a soundcard DAC will have to try it out, perhaps someone can give me the ins/outs if I bring it and my laptop to SELEM. With a soundcard DAC can you do geometric correction or do you use a UGC? The reason I was really liking the pango was how good the tuned color pallet and balance for fading looked.

a sound card dac will act just like an ADAT pretty much, you would still need a UGC if you want to make corrections...

but we didnt even use a UGC at the Miami museum of science to playback shows off ADAT for many, many years, we used to use a modified ADAT and a "knob box" that basically has a 2 ch pot for X & Y to control size...

now we use some box from raven systems

    http://www.raven-systems.com/transcoder.html

but honestly, I think the modified ADAT with the knob box worked better lol

I picked up a few single bank 512 sticks laying around here, thinking some of you might be able to use them, but they are ECC Registered. Is it confirmed that this will not work?

It is ODD as both non-ECC and some ECC server memory works in it. Are they single ended chips on just one side?

Which ever route you go -
it would probably be good to check with Pangolin and make sure you're not voiding any warranty by supplying your own memory modules.
(Might not be an issue - but better safe than sorry...)

I have scene them shipped with both types of memory, very confusing as to what this controller does or looks for.

I just ordered 6 types of PC133/PC100 some 1G single and 2G sticks double sided hoping that it may recognize one at half the amount of 1G. Will see. Pango can't answer the question even though there site states up to 1g support I was told it is theoretical and "These
may exist insomuch as special server memory or something like that"

Also what is the warranty period?

I seem to remember Hayden saying that you could use the double-sided SIMS and the QM-2000 board would ignore half of the memory. So if that's true, then maybe the 2-gig sticks will work...

It does seem odd that no one at Pangolin has tried this yet though.

Send a message to Bill Benner directly at Pango.
