Default Reinstall windows XP home / professional help

sold my old laptop on ebay so had to reinstall windows to clean it.

install went fine but now on start up i get the following message and i have to select one.

the new install was xp home. if i click on professional it does not start as it says its not installed.

how do i stop this from happening on start up?

Reboot with the install disc and see if you can format the partition the XP Pro install is on. You may have to format the whole drive and re-install XP Home again.

Open C:\boot.ini in notepad & remove the no longer existing windows installation

Note: File is hidden/readonly by default
