polarisation & fast axis

Before I put my diode in it's holder, I would like to know if anyone can tell me how I should put the diode such that the axis with the biggest divergence (fast axis???) is horizontal.
The thing is that once the diodes are in the case it is most of the time difficult to rotate or remove them again. (unless Dave's holders don't have that problem).
The reason why I want the widest axis horizontal is because the correction optics I have lying around are glued to their holder.

Dave's mounts won't have that problem.
They don't use a press fit they clamp the rear face of the diode. All you will have to do is loosen the screws a little then rotate the diode. Maybe do this at low power as the back plate may not dissipate heat as effectively when it is loose.

ah, good to know that Dave's mounts are better with regard to this. Most mounts are really a pain. Once pressed in, you cannot get them out in one piece.
