Default Anyone know about laser shows at SciWorks?

It seems there is a place near me called SciWorks near Winston Salem doing a lot of laser shows. I'll probably check them out. I was wondering if anyone knows anyone involved. I wouldn't mind a behind the scenes tour. Heck, I wouldn't even mind volunteering to help out some.

Here is a link to a PDF that talks about it.

I do think he was at SELEM one year in the past, if only for a few minutes. If it is the guy I'm thinking of, he was a good fellow. Not 100% sure he was from that venue.

Thanks. I'm going over there tomorrow afternoon to see a matinee sampler show (Beatles). Maybe I can find out something.

I went yesterday for the 15 minute demo. The real shows are later at night and last longer. It was probably the worst laser show I have seen. I'm not going back for seconds.

That is why YOU DO NEED to go back. Amazing what a volunteer can do.

Just curious, was the show covering the entire dome? Or just a small part of it?

Just the middle portion of the dome. It was only a single RGB projector show and I'm pretty sure it was all pre-recorded. It was the old spirograph style effects with some modern graphics thrown in here and there. The graphics weren't even animated other than being moved around and rotated. The spirpgraph effects could have been cool but they hardly changed during the entire song.

Sounds like that place needs an invasion of SELEM folks to show them how to do some decent shows....

I have a feeling what your describing is a orphaned tape based system. Go help them out and get them up to date.

    Gary,

I agree completely with Steve. See what you can do to help them out. It would be a shame for a venue to die off because of a lack of interest.
