Default stupid cheap acousto optics plus bragg mounts....

Just spotted that www.surplusshed.com have brand new, never used CTI AOM crystals (Model 3200-142) including bragg mounts for $14 each ...
They are apparently coated for down the blue end of the spectrum (442 - 488), but it would be interesting to see how far they can be run outside that before the losses become unacceptable.

An RF driver will have to be devised (got to figure out the frequency first, possibly 32MHz?? Anyone have a network analyser?), but if these could be talked into doing say 532nm the possibilities become interesting.....

Thought some of the gas heads might be interested (For the mount if nothing else).

    Regards, Dan.

Pity they are in the states.

Screw the AOMs £10 for Bragg mounts is a GOOD deal.

    Cheers

Cost me $9.50 to airmail 4 of them, so still a good deal.
Yet to find out what UK customs will decide to burn me for.....

Ask them to label it as "Recycled Educational Optics" or something like that.

Custom guys are supposed to be GREEN you are saving the planet mate!

Pity I didn't that you were going to buy, I would offered to share the load.

What are you going to use them for? I just would like a few extra degrees of freedom.

    Cheers

Thanks Dan for the heads up...

Surplus Shed has some cool stuff - these are a sweet deal.

Got an I70, a PCAOM would be better but you use what you can find (Refuse to pay more for a PCAOM then I did for the laser!), and having a few spare mounts strikes me as useful.

Also want to do some experiments with using them to modulate a DPSS that really hates diode current modulation.

Turns out that they are probably 200MHz parts, easy enough to knock up a driver for that.

    Arrow Mini review

Just a little mini review of the CTI 3200-142(144) AOM

I ordered two aoms plus mounts at surplusshed.
They charged a fair 5$ for shipping to the Netherlands, and it arrived in just a few days. Packaging was decent, bubble wrapped, and in a bubble envelope.
Optical windows were not sealed, so some dust could have creped in.
I received a 3200-142 and a 3200-144, which probably means they're optimised for different wavelengths.

The mount is not a fine adjustable bragg mount !
It only lets you adjust the height of the aom.
Bragg-angle has to be adjusted manually. This is made a little easier, because the mount has a pivot hole too.

These mounts are 100% form factor compatible with gogu's MTS 110 aoms !
Just replace the imperial bolts with M2,5.

No optical data yet, I bought these basically for the mounts.

Yep, confirm that, just got mine.
    Height yes, Bragg no .

Ah well, probably still worth the money and kind of tough to tell from the photos.

BTW: If you decide to have a look inside the AOM do NOT undo the two small screws in the bottom of the module case, they actually mount the optical guts of the thing (Destroyed one finding this out).

    Regards, Dan.
