    Default LaserFX - Hobby Hazer

I'm actually going to build one of these units. I'm looking for a source for some of the parts that I cannot find, and I was hoping that maybe someone would know of a supplier.

    List of parts:
Party-Perk Heater Element - this can be found for cheap on ebay.
110vac Muffin Fan - Easy to come by, from all sorts of suppliers
110vac on/off switches - Easy to come by, from all sorts of suppliers
30 seconds until off Relay timer - Unknown supplier
    110vac to 30vac @ 3.5a Transformer - Unknown Supplier
Light Weight Minerial Oil - Unknown Supplier

The whole article can be found at: http://www.laserfx.com/Backstage.Las...obbyHaze2.html

Any help would be great!. This beats buying a $700+ hazer. Thanks guys!..

    This for work or personal?

If its for work i imagine it being way too small given the size of the venue.

I guess you could get one of those 1500W hot tub heaters to make up for it.

Sounds like we have a project on our hands

Liteglow: Yea, your about right it smokes mineral oil and pumps it into the air to create a fogger effect without all the smoke. pretty neat stuff.

    Coffee Warmer >>>>>

Yeah liteglow its a Fog machine Just another name called a " Hazer "

My fogger fills up the whole house way too fast and sets off the fire alarm...
if I forget to cover it...Hehe.
Also.. It becomes too hard to breathe after a bit... But still .. its like being in another world or place altogether...

Itsa " Gotta have " item to add to your arsenal of "Laser gadjets "

When i`m trying a new show on my laser, i just PSSST PSSST some dust in the air and it`s perfect the next 10-20min

This is more for personal. I want something to use when I'm designing stuff. I'm going to try emailing the person who came up with the design.

Hi Jay, the transformer is pretty easy, just hunt down all electronics's web site.
They're the surplus store in LA I run to if I need weird parts. Walkable from
Ivan's shop and they have nearly everything.

You can buy the mineral oil at the drug store, hazer fluid works too, but
I'd imagine it'd be nasty because the real stuff uses detergents to clean
out the expansion chamber in the real units...

30 second relay timer you can get from things as simple as coffee grinders
or microwaves, and similar appliances, or you could buy them new.

But if you're getting one for home, unless this is for educational value,
just get the Chauvet HZ-100 on ebay. $200 and a liter of fluid lasts for
a week with constant usage... Not as nice as a real cracker, but nicer than
the design in the homebrew one...

When I get a chance, I'll tear apart a real hazer and take pics of the insides
so you can compare and make your own decisions.

I have been looking, it's hard to find the right one, and I'm not sure how one of a different power level would react. I'm sure if I wait around long enough, I'll find the relay on ebay, although, it only serves to speed up the warming process. I'm interested on how much this will really put out, and the differences between this hobby hazer, and the real deal.

Heh, I'd recommend building one before worrying about the relay.
You can add the relay later as it doesn't affect the core...

Also note that the voltage of the AC transformer isn't very important
as it's the watts you are controlling... This means you can just
use a 24VAC transformer which will be more common. Either way
you'll want to make sure you measure the temperature as you
definitely want to avoid going too far past the flash point if you
    value your eyebrows.

I looked at building the original version of that circuit many years ago,
but I bought the real deal after some research and I'd never go back
