    Default Pangobright App

Never heard this mentioned over here so I thought I'd post it.

Pangolin produce a FREE application that allows you to instantly dim your screen for laser displays so you can better see the display rather than beign dazzled by the brightness of the monitor (or having to mess around with monitor settings).

Its called Pangobright and whats more it dims EVERY window on the PC not just Pangolin software so no matter what other software you might be running, there will be no nasty sudden bright changes between windows.

It works by sitting in the system tray as an icon and then allowing you to adjust monitor brightness with a simple slider.

I've copied this off the Pangobright forum its a simple animation showing how the slider works:

It can also work across multiple monitors and allow individual adjustment of each.

It is downloadable from here: http://www.pangobright.com/

I can only think of external displays...

But ma laptop does this automatically... (and kicks in the backlight keyboard too!)

Well apparently many computers don't as it was a much requested feature over on the pango forums.

Maybe they're using desktops or less featured lap tops, I don't know but just thought it might be useful for some.

The computer itself may not but when have you ever seen a monitor or tv without a brightness control?

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

I don't do shows Dan so maybe you could try it for the benefit of everyone on here?

Its been around a while so I can't see it being naff especially when its been designed by Pangolin.

All I can say is don't shoot the messenger! Its a free app after all, so you have nothing to lose either way.

Very true comment Rob. But what's easier, playing around trying to get your monitor back to x% in the dark after a gig with those twidly little buttons on the underside, and risking disturbing other settings such as brightness, contrast etc, or simply moving a quick slider on the desktop?

EDIT: Just tried it for myself. Its much faster than any other method in fact adjustment is instaneous.

I've captured a short video which I uploading now, will add it soon.
