After a bit of an investigation today I found the 532 laser's SMPS to be ring oscillating at a similar frequency, accentuating the noise but it's still not the same noise as what the scanners are making.
Steve - no he doesn't unfortunately 
If I turn down the green, by way of the driver pot I migrated to the back of the projector, the sound disappears so it's deffo when the green is being driven.
