    Default Expensive but worth it?

Surplus shed has some new goodies:

    http://www.surplusshed.com/pages/item/m3000.html

    http://www.surplusshed.com/pages/item/m2999.html

AOM and Red diode optics for a very precise medical printer.

Uses a TOLD9211 diode, so easy enough to get a 5.56 to 9 mm diode adapter and stick a modern diode in it.

WOW! I was modern copiers had such nice optical rails, I'd be gutting them more often. I do however have a nice source for 43K RPM ceramic air bearing polygon scanners.

Inside the copiers I work on. I have a bunch of pulls. I'll grab one from the shop and take a picture tonight.

Funny, I was thinking exactly the same thing.

If 6 sided you get about 172 scan lines non interlaced at a 25Hz frame rate (And you really need twice that to avoid flicker), so close but no cigar.

I suppose there is nothing that says you could not use a high frequency resonant or AO deflector to add a small amplitude, high frequency Y axis modulation before hitting the main polygon scanner... That way you could scan out effectively several "lines" worth of Y axis resolution per face on the polygon.

X axis resolution is generally better then Y axis as it is limited by modulation bandwidth not scanner speed.

    Regards, Dan.

These appear to be 6 sided. I have some others with more but I don't know where I put them. I do have 4 identical units from a color copier. I'll post a pic tonight.

Dan, 4 diodes = 4 * 172 = 688 lines. The line scanner is the polygon and the page scanner is a simple galvo.

Where you get the frame buffer is the fun one... The guts of the copier perhaps? Some VGA cards were quite programmable.

RAM is cheap these days, if you just wanted a still picture...

I'm a coward, 4 years ago I would have been drooling to get a airbear scanner. Now I just drool from old age. 4 years ago DMD was not everywhere, too, and I would have had a market for this.

How about 16 lines used for just for text?
