by saying what I said I was meaning in fact two triangles of 3 red dots

    Code:
     O
    O O

    +

    O O
     O
when cubed, they would produce a rounder beam than any combination of 2/4/8 beams, especially in a telescopic setup, as you can dispose them in a more circular fashion... you could even fill the hole in the center of the hexagon

    Code:
     O
    O O
    O O
     O
ASCII doesn't render beams very well, so I hope you'll understand what I'm trying to explain

anyway, you red setups are really gorgeous! this is rare to see someone taking so much efforts and tinkering to get homemade reds

could you take a picture of all your already done modules lit in one big "family pic"?

i see what your saying yes but its not as simple as that.

each beam measures 3mm wide by 5mm high, so in your beam config all beam together would measure 6mm wide by 20mm high. this isnt great for putting into telescopics.

using 000 your input beam into the telescopics is 12mm by 10mm so you get a much
    000
    better beam out.

when using telescopics you need to bunch the beams up as tight as possible and as square as possible.

at the moment red is our weakness, we have bright tight greens and bright tight blues were just lacking red. so im building up to making a bright tight red.

take a pic of all my red modules? i only have like two lol.

    Andy,

Thank you for sharing that info. I'm looking forward to doing some red builds before long.

those telescopic are for when using roithner 7020h lens which give a beam of 3mm by 5mm.

you can also use an aixiz lens as it gives a very similar 3mm by 5mm beam

ok ive done a bit of tweaking of the red to try get the beam as best i can and here are the results.

my new red vs my 500mw lasever green at 17 metres. at apeture theres no contest the green is much tighter with a beam of like 1-1.5mm where as the red is 2.5mm by 3mm

my new red vs my home made 445. the 445 has an aixiz 405 lens on it only, both at 17 metres. the red has a better beam at apeture. just think when i get a prism pair on the 445 is will have a better beam than the red and green.

its all about distance, although at apeture a green has a better beam, at distance the red has the same/equal beam.
