Its not necessarily illegal though is it?

So far as I'm aware on the wrong side of the water, you can scan in the US if you hold the right type of variance or use a Class IIIR laser. Must admit that looks stronger than IIIR though in so far as what you can tell from a photo.

As far as I know there are only a hand full of crowd scanning variances in the us. They are very involved and very expensive to do and get. Judging from the look of that show I can just about guarantee that is 100% Illegal.

I would like some more details as well. I will pass them along to one of a couple of people in the us who really knows the cdrh inside and out and he would know if was a legit crowd scan show. He also lives in utah.

Since the laws are federal and not state, and based on what I have read....it looks illegal to me.

It looks like a private party, not sure how it works in the US but I think if its private it's not public so it not illegal.

Like it's legal to drive a car on your own property without a license but it is illegal to drive a car on the public road.

I'm willing to state since there was close access to the projector, that was not so safe.

I like the warning label on the older TARM ADAT tapes I've Seen. Its right on the tape case, will have wording something like: "This Show considered safe at 22.8 Meters/75 Feet with 2.6 watt Mixed Gas Laser @ N Degree scan Angle"

Makes it clear where the line is. But that is a show measured with a LMS or similar exposure meter, you cannot do that with just a projector, you still have to certify the effects.

this was not a private party. raves here will take money from anyone, a party here in the us is only considered private when each and every attendee has a matching record on file, with name etc intact. that how alot of the hookah clubs were dodging the smoking ban for a little while, but as such laws extend to such places as well, i can assure you nothing about this show was legal.

    more pics i dug up.

I should probably make it very clear that i had NOTHING to do with this show, was simply going through a local photographers' albums grabbing pics of shows ive done or dj'ed at, and it caught my attention.

this is the biggest risk i ever took at a show, hope that speaks for my mind when it comes to these things. this venue was a nightmare for beamshooting.
