keychain laser help?

I just recently bought one of the 42 head keychain pointer for about $3( http://www.importermall.com/Site5/de...D=S5%3ALP%2D42 ). Ive been trying to modify it but I cant get the module out of the case, also, I tried putting 2 aaa batteries into it but all it did was produce a very weak beam(works just fine with the watch batteries though). I was wondering if anyone had any expeirience modifying these and could share their knowledge.
