    Question Wall Wort

can you use a wall wort to power your laser diodes?
i have a 500mw dpps green diode, and a 1 watt blue casio diode.
and dr lava set up my driver board the flexmod 3 for 9 volts.
so the question i am asking is can i use a 9 volt wall wort to power thes diodes?
    thanks and God bless.

    Hi Tommy-

Sure. the only problem with their power supplies is that they are not regulated. So the outputs can vary quite a bit. In fact people have seen power drifts as much as 30%-40%

not exactly what we want for laser use. to power a radio, sure, not a problem. if you use one, just check the output voltage with a DMM first and confirm its output.

A better choice would be a regulated power supply like we use from meanwell. However, the wallmart ones *will* work. just test it first.

    Question 9 volt wall worts

i have a lots of 9 volt wall worts. but when i measure them with my volt meter, they always say around 12 volts. this is with nothing hooked up.
    is this ok to use?
or where can i get a 9 volt regulator to install between the wall wort and the diode.
    thanks and God bless.

    Default WALL WORT

As long as the wall wort is the propper voltage and current ratetings for the drive requirements used for the laser diode. A "regulated power supply" is your best option for this but, is not a must!

The only problem with that is the 7809 is only good for 1A. I'd suggest a small 12V 2A switching PS off of ebay for $10 shipped.

Be sure they are 9V DC and not AC, also the reason you get near 12v when you measure them is because there is no load under load it will diminish quickly.

There has to be someplace where you are that you can buy a regulated power supply. Down here we have SkyCraft; A-Town has to have something like that.
