    Question Diode extraction

Any tips for removing a diode from an Aixiz press fit without wrecking the module or the diode?

    thanks

I saw a few people on LPF using a piece of antenna tube and a small vise or c-clamp. Someone also make a tool for mounting and removing(if I remember right) for about $15 but I don't remember their user name.

I removed 2 LD this week, I did not have a telescopic antenna to trash, so I dissected a DC jack and used the outer tube as my tool, using a small vice and a piece of wood with a hole in it for the LD and pins.

    Go sloooow with the vice.

I have used one of these to remove 642nm diodes from a aixiz mount

Just chuck it in the drill press, and press the diode out..

that's the main reason why I did up the brass mounts I am selling. Because I destroyed a 642nm diode in the process of removing it ( but I successfully removed maybe 3 or 4 diodes using this method ).

Installing is the easy part. I use a brass tube I got from the local hobby shop and chuck it up in my drill press.

I never needed to remove one that was still working.

Doc posted a great tip for the Aixiz mounts.
If you drill out the rear cover hole to 4mm, this can be reversed so you can use it as a press for the diode into the mount. I did both my 445's like this and it worked like a charm.
