    Default beans

well i will beg to differ on that one.
its a mode problem, as in the temps are not set right
but as you say its a driver problem well yes if its not set up right
i have had cni lasers do it to me
beaning is more common in dpss blues than greens
and i have got rid of my beaning problems in the past with a tec tune up
When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

It's not a mode issue. I've observed the dot, still on a flat, white surface while it's being modulated, without any scanning.

It remains a neat TEM00. No matter what modulation voltage. There's an initial jump into TEM01, but it settles back into TEM00 within a few milliseconds. (it's only noticable as a flash)

As soon as you start scanning it, it falls apart. Also, changing the modulation voltage also affects the spacing between the dots.

Get below 1V, and you can see parts of the entire circle dropping out (more like a streak chasing a circle).

    Default driver

might be nice then to see how this laser behaves with a flex mod driver to run just the diode then , for the money they seem to put out a fair bit of power might be worth spending a little extra on a diode driver to add to it

Yeah, it would be nice if anyone tried to drive it with flexmod. If it does behave good in that way - I certainly will know what to ask from myself as a christmas present. :-)

And if they "play nice" with a Flexmod, buy the TTL version as it is cheaper.

Willing to donate a FlexMod to the cause?

I kid, I kid. I haven't stooped as low as to beg (yet)

Anyway. With a FlexMod, the output would still be more or less extremely non-linear, but that's to be expected from any DPSS laser. It certainly wouldn't be pulsed, however.

You could always leave the original driver in place and keep using it to drive the TEC, while using the FlexMod to drive the laser. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

One *very* small problem. I'm completely dry.

I smashed open mah piggy-bank, and it swore at me profusely before regaining it's composure.

    Well, you get the idea.

Thanks for the offer, though. I know someone who might be interested in it.

And now I can't see a 200mw module or 150mw ttl module at their store at ebay. 150mw analog only.

It'd just be a routine listing-just-ended day. It'll reappear soon enough.

However, they've pulled their 150+ and red labbies.
